Am mai progresat puțin în ieșirea asta cu cititul, și am mai dat peste câteva versuri excepționale :). Partea asta apare și în film, la un moment dat, dar în The Return of The King, și e spusă de Arwen, parcă. Aici apare într-o scrisoare a lui Gandalf către Frodo.

Îmi place mai ales al doilea vers, care, din nou, poate fi luat ca vorbă de duh și înafara contextului în care apare aici:

All that is gold does not glitter,

Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be king.

M-am apucat, pentru a treia sau a patra oară, să citesc Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, și, în sfârșit, am reușit să trec de prefață și de partea introductivă (Concerning hobbits).

Este acolo un citat fenomenal, bun de dat mai departe. Ce spune Gandalf mi se pare un citat general valabil pentru toată lumea, dar mai ales pentru generația mea (evident, în contextul de azi)

„Always after a defeat and a respite, the Shadow takes another shape and grows again.”

„I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.

„So do I,” said Gandalf, „and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
